Joshua Tree Outfitters will do your food shopping for you in advance of your arrival. We will have it packed in dry boxes and coolers with ice when you arrive.
To use our Shopping Service, send us a detailed list of the items you want, including brand names, size and quantity. Please also tell us whether you prefer low- or no-fat items, salt-free or sugar-free items, non-dairy, whole-wheat, thin or thick slicing, etc. Please be as specific as possible. The more detail you give in your order, the better we will be able to provide exactly what you want.
Given alternatives of similar items, we will choose the least expensive and least adulterated option. We will include in your purchase the appropriate amount of ice for the coolers you need. (We provide our coolers at half price when you use our Shopping Service.)  Also, be sure to check out the items in our Kitchen Box so you do not order things already included there.
The fee for our Shopping Service is a percentage of your food bill. The percentage is lower the further in advance of your arrival you place your order. (We shop for your groceries as close to your arrival as possible, but the earlier you place your order, the better we are able to plan and arrange our shopping and other activities.)
Our Shopping Service fee is:

  • 20% of your food bill if you place your order seven days or more in advance of your arrival;
  • 25% of your food bill if you place your order three to six days in advance of your arrival;
  • 35% of your food bill if you place your order less than three days in advance of your arrival.

How to order and pay

Make your shopping list and send it to us via facsimile or email. (Click contact us for our fax number and email address.) Along with your shopping list, please tell us how many in your party, and the date and approximate time you expect to arrive in Joshua Tree. We will call you on the phone or send you an email: First, to ask you any questions we may have, and second, to acknowledge receipt of your order and to ask for a deposit.
We may require a $75.00 credit card deposit on Shopping Service orders.  Your deposit will be credited toward your total bill when you arrive to pick up all your goodies.   We will refund all of your deposit if you cancel your order more than 48 hours before your scheduled arrival. We will refund 50% of your deposit if you cancel less than 48 hours before your scheduled arrival, so long as we have not done any of your shopping. We will not refund any of your deposit if you cancel after we have already done your shopping.

  • Condiments (spices, mustard, salsa, tobasco, steak sauce, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles etc)
  • Snack Food (chips, candy, nuts, raisins, cookies, granola bars, energy bars, etc)
  • Beverages (coffee, tea, cocoa, soda, juice, water, powdered drink mixes) (We do not have a liquor license, so the State of California says we cannot buy alcohol for you.)
  • Miscellaneous (tofu, egg roll wrappers, sweet & low, ....)
